Hit Down

Yes, I'd like to hit down and take a divot on every shot. But... I do pick it without a divot because of my developing (golf) years hitting off of mats and taking practice swings on the back lanai without a ball.

When I really work on taking divots I tend to hit big fat shots about every third swing. When I swing "naturally" (without any mechanical thoughts) I tend to sweep or pick it off. These tend to be rather accectable as far as results. But I really would rather take a divot.

Damon - I have been pretty much of an 'arc' putter most of my life - have been trying some STST lately (hence the switch to a face balanced Corza Monza from the NP2 at times).

My best efforts come on the really hard putts - I can really hit some great putts in the 10' to 15' foot range if it is a really difficult putt.

I putted for almost 25 years with an old Bullseye Flange exclusivley - never took another putter on the course - got me thru Sr Tour School at the end of 92 - then I fell prey to all of the "try this" you get on tour. Still have the Bullseye and go back to it from time to time.

Bruce,

What do you think about when you are hitting the putt??

Brian, at what point after learning the pivot would install a component such as extensor action to a students swing, How would you do it?

Put a TEE in front of the ball precisely on the LOC, and drive it into the "ert."

It is not a component.

I would add it ONLY if I thought it would PROPERLY change what the CLUB was doing.

UNLESS THEY HAD NONE of it to begin with...

Mostly 'just start it on line' - I try to leave speed to my subconscious.

Sometimes I try to use the image of a tack in the back of the ball (on the line) and just try to hit the tack with the putter.

Know it may be 'verboten' to discuss, but I may try to get involved with "Clear Keys" - don't think that is in 'competition' with your site - you may delete this reference if you wish - sorry if out of line.

Thanks, please excuse my poor choice of words. Is the fiddle drill good for developing more of a snap release? Thanks.

I was kidding....and just staying on my toes for the literalists.:p

The FIDDLE DRILL willshow you WHAT to do, and show you how EASY it could be...:)

Pressure Points (Lag Sensors)

Brian

Do you think of the four pressure points as something to actively strive for or passively monitored such as a sensor? Do I make sense? When I try to pull my #3 into impact (when swinging) I can flip. When I try and just "sense" the pressure of #3 through impact I like the results. This is a fairly new feeling.

Never heard a bad thing about KeyGolf.

I am sure it works for some people very well. Give it a shot.

I had a sports psychologist, he was very good.

Define "Try for."

The middle quote is the one I'd worry about!
Mind in the hands from a TGM standpoint is better than mind on the clubhead.
Mind in the back of the shoulders is better from my standpoint.

Mind in the shoulders.....hmmm.....

well....in a no wrist or limited wrist stroke, the shoulders are providing the POWER and the LINE.....;)

Chuck Hogan

I worked with Chuck Hogan for awhile beginning in 92 to help me get prepared for Tour School. Also had one session with Bob Rotella (spent 2 1/2 days at his home) in early 98 prior to my last season.

Try for Active Vs Passive

I guess I mean Pressure Points is felt (passive) rather than actively used. Am I making sense?
