Being stuck (i.e., clubhead being very behind) isn't necessarily a bad thing IMO. Only if when you'll hit it behind the ball (if no compensation is done). So the solution IMO is to, again, adjust the radius (shorten it) so clubhead won't hit it fat (if no comoensation). If this is done, getting the clubhead as stuck as possible is even prefered because that means clubhead is as far away from the ball and, therefore, has more distance to travel and gain speed. No?

No, being stuck is not good unless you like blocks and hooks

Disagree. For as long as you're right elbow is leading and bent, right wrist cocked, coming in in a shallow attack (clubhead not underplane), ball forward, wider stance, pivoting well, and, most importantly, left side is extending thru impact, that clubface is gonna be consistently square...

Lol, that golfer doesn't sound stuck.

Exactly. What is "stuck"? Most people think stuck is clubhead too low and behind you in downswing. That per se isn't bad. In fact IMO that is best for a rotational swing.

Too low and behind you is just underplane. Being stuck is not having room, out of sync as well

The ultimate cause is an underplane clubhead, yes? You'll always have room if your clubhead couldn't possibly be underplane...like setting the lowest possible clubhead position to be exactly on the ball. Being out of sync woukd then just make the clubface open (hips early) or closed (hips late).

There are many causes. In Tigers case, He dip's down and has no room. At memorial when he was getting stuck, he was dipping down and turning his hips fast and out of sync with his arms. Even on the range after the round, it seemed Chris was having him pivot harder through the shot. I saw Tiger motion to him that he was turning his hips and leaving arms behind in a stuck position. They didnt seem to fix it, looked kinda like Chris was having him do a david duval hip motion with the head releasing through the shot (thats not really fixing arms being behind though, right?)

Dipping down is good, means you're extensioning really well, like Nelson and Hogan, who both dips too. If Tiger's clubhead isn't underplane right from the get go, dipping won't matter, and all he has to worry about is timing his hips.

Standing more erect (getting left shoulder higher at address) and pivoting harder/head/shoulders releasing more at impact (getting left shoulder higher at impact) are all towards fixing an underplane clubhead=radius too long for the ball.

Il wait for Brian to charm in on this, you seem to throw alot of technical jargon into your posts that are confusing and dont make much sense

In regards to getting stuck, would a player who has problems getting stuck make those problems worse by flattening the arm swing? It seems to me like that would be the case. If so, would it help for him to get his arms more up to counteract his natural tendencies?

With the upmost respect for Zach, I'm glad he won, because it shows that it's still possible for Tiger to win a major.

Why does it show that? Zach has something Tiger will never have: one swing that he knows inside and out and can trust and fix on the spot. Doesn't mean Tiger can't win again but I'm not sure how Zach winning shows that Tiger can win. As far as I know Zach has had the same basic swing since college. Tiger is now on his 4th swing.

Technical jargons? Which ones? Radius? Its just the distance of left shoulder to clubhead when left wrist is uncocked. Extensioning? Brian has a really good video about it.

The context you are using them in dont make much sense. How good of a player and ball striker are you? Are you a teacher of good players? You seem to be trying to jump off the high dive when you should be in the kiddie pool with floaties on. Sometimes its better to keep it simple

wow! hello! somebody needs a time out :)

Here is what I saw today....

Mismatched elements.

Too much pure handle dragging to hit a draw driver.

(BTW: Handle Dragging is too much linear force and not enough angular)

All of this reminds me of a speech I gave in 2005....roughly:

"Ever had a student that you fixed up good and they left you for someone else and that someone else changed one or two little things and became famous? I have.

Try to figure out what that one or two things might be might be and put it in yourself"

(my advice to Chris)

Great advice, but it's too late.

Why o why o why o why would he handle drag, if CC has told him not to?

RedJeep83, you say in post 154 you were at memorial, observed Tiger, and also observed Como working with TW.

Over at golfwrx, a user by the same name posts Mahan videos as his own.
my driver swing - advice - Instruction & Academy - GolfWRX

Curious.

Oh well. As to Tiger, I'm sure he'll get better.

I see someone has been looking me up, :). It was a joke because I liked that driver swing of mahan, wanted to see what people would say and try to correct. Most have seen my real swing on there and knew it was a joke

btw, I was at memorial and watched Tiger a couple days, watched his range session after round with como on friday night. There was only like 10 of us watching because noone knew he was there, was like 7pm.

Was just being honest with zachgolf, you understand and make sense of what he is saying? To me it just technical jibberish from some videos that he recently watched or something that didnt even really correlate to what we were talking. If it made sense then Im all for it

Sorry to hear that you find it too technical and no sense. I expect disagreement, but disagree because they didn't understand seems too much. What did I say that doesn't make sense to you to help you understand? I'll try to simplify it for you so you'll understand what you're disagreeing on (which is ok)?
